Net margin

Net profit as a percentage of revenue — how much of each euro earned is left.

Calculated by dividing net profit by revenue. A 5% margin means five euros are left from every hundred sold.

What counts as a typical margin depends entirely on the line of work. A couple of per cent is normal in food retail; software can run ten times that. The figure only means something against companies in the same field, or against the same company in other years.

Overit calculates this from the published figures — it is not a line the company reports itself.
