The ЄДРПОУ code
A legal entity's eight-digit code in the Unified State Register — its primary identifier.
The ЄДРПОУ code is assigned when a legal entity is entered in the register and stays with it permanently: it does not change when the name, the director or the owner changes, and it is not reissued after the company is terminated.
It is the only way to identify a company unambiguously. Names collide constantly, and the words “ТОВАРИСТВО З ОБМЕЖЕНОЮ ВІДПОВІДАЛЬНІСТЮ” open nearly a million register entries.
A sole trader (ФОП) has no ЄДРПОУ code: they are identified by their taxpayer registration number, which is personal data and is not published in the open datasets.
